The date was June 12, 1989. That day I had my baby and my English bulldog had her puppies all within a 3 hour period of time.

Has anyone ever heard of a person and their dog giving birth on the same day?

This is our story:

I was pregnant with my second child and my English Bulldog came into season. We'd bred her very successfully once before
and it was such fun that we wanted her to have another litter. It'd been about a year and a half, so we thought she'd
be able to handle it. We calculated the due date of the puppies and it was exactly one week after I was due.
Being young and stupid... we figured, "Heck, I'll have been home and mostly recovered by the time the puppies come.
I'll be on maternity leave, so I'll be there for them without taking time off of work. Perfect!"

Because these types of things ALWAYS work out on "Schedule," I found myself on the night of 6/11 - overdue, watching
my Bulldog go into labor BEFORE me!!! THIS WAS NOT THE PLAN!!!

Well, she free-whelped before, so we didn't see the need to take her to the Vet. We were confident we could handle
helping her give birth, so, we just watched and waited. My husband took the first shift and I fell asleep waking a
couple hours later - you guessed it - in labor. So we mobilized in a hurry and my (now-ex) husband ended up driving a
pregnant dog in labor and a pregnant wife in labor to their respective hospitals IN THE SAME CAR RIDE!

Yes, he took the dog first! (No, that's not why he's my ex.)

As I was trying to fill out forms, the vet techs ushered me out of the facility yelling, "We deliver puppies, not babies. We'll remember you!!!" Within a half hour of Shelby's arrival at the vet, she delivered her first puppy.

Then my husband got me to the hospital, and they whisked me into an emergency c-section, so I delivered my daughter Kyleah within about an hour and a half of arriving at my hospital.

All in all, that day, we had 5 new lives come into the world, 3 female, 2 male, 4 bulldog, 1 human.

And that was only part of the story...
